Two More Weeks

School is almost done and there is so much left to do. My desk is a mess that needs to be cleaned out. I still have to correct my kids papers that are due tomorrow. I have to continue taking inventory of my class room, luckily I finished my bookcase which was a good chunk of my inventory. The reference books on my desk need to be taken care of and I have some boxes of books that need to be inventoried too. Not to mention writing report cards. I think the worse part is that I am going to miss my 45ers so much. It is going to be a long two weeks.

Five things

A list of five reasons why I love teaching; Hugs That spark in their eye when they get what I am teaching them. When they bring up something we learned before, that relates to what we are studying know. When they ask critical thinking questions. When we bond over video games.

Teachers Pay Teachers

I just want to give a shout out to all the wonderful people who but up borders for free on their TpT store. Thanks to them I have a wide selection of borders to use for my kids end of the year certificates. I am giving my kids the option to choose their own border so they are really happy. I am happy because I don't have to go through a ton of Google Images to find a good border. I love TpT and think it is the one of the greatest things to ever happen to teachers. End of the Year

The end of the year is almost upon us, three more weeks then we are done. Unfortunately in those three weeks we have to tidy up our classrooms, take inventory of everything, write down supplies we will need for next year, fill in a form for what we did this year, write tests, fill in report cards, plan an end of year field trip, write end of year certificates, and to top it off we I still have to try to teach 19 kids who all suffer from some kind of end of the year disease that turns them into little monsters. Last week somehow I ended up with tape over my mouth hands and legs taped together and made to sit in my chair as they wheeled me to the principal's office where I was finally saved from the monsters.  The worst thing is I could have broken the tape anytime but I was laughing so hard I could not get up the strength to break my bonds.

Field Trips

Field Trips are one of the most stressful things about being a teacher. Luckily I have an awesome parent who organizes all the trips. Sadly I do not have someone to take my place on the trips. I start out panicking over where am I going? How to I get there? When do I leave to get there on time. Then it's do I have enough drivers (because we don not have a school bus)? Do I have all the permission slips? Did one of my students forget theirs? Do I need to call a parent to bring it? Do I have enough money? Who is going in which car? Do I have the drivers information? Where are my drivers?      Finally after all my endless questions are answered and I am actually there and all kids are present and accounted for I feel fine. I get into the trip just as much as my kids do and I have a lot of fun. Its just that first part that makes me say "I hate field trips!"

Children of the Wild West

I assigned my kids a few passages in Children of the Wild West by Russell Freedman The purpose of the material is to write a comparison paper between their life and life in the Wild West. Kids are making some awesome connections and I am really proud of them.      The problem I have is getting them to move from ideas to construction. my kids weakest point is writing a good paragraph. The amount of times I got "These are interesting facts about ..." or "This paragraph will tell you about..." I am beginning to think my kids have no imagination when it comes to writing. How do I get my kids to come up with good topic sentences?

My new favorite store. Almost everything is a $1.50 and they have almost everything. I bought these cute frames that I am going to give to my 45ers as a going away present at the end of the year.  I also found these adorable bookends for all the reference books I use in class.  I also found some cute big clips to jazz up my paper collection.  That is not counting all the stuff I got for home. This place is totally worth a visit, and if you go be ready to spend a lot of cash.On my next visit I plan on getting some cute binders and dividers for next years Teacher Binder.
