Bookmarks on TpT

Image
I placed a new product on Teachers pay Teachers today. I created 18 various fun bookmarks you can share with your students. I really enjoyed designing these bookmarks and figuring out how to use basic shapes on PowerPoint to create unique designs and images.  This set is 2 scenes one during the day and the other at night. Then a basic rainbow and then 3 bookmarks with some text. The first one is a scroll with the words: Read. Explore. Imagine. The second one is a collection of different words: Read, Learn. Imagine. Explore. Create. And the third one is a bee hive theme with the words: Let's Buzz About Books. The second set is 6 different monsters eyes. The last set is an abstract rectangle design, a flowers design, two types of star designs and a circle design. I'm selling the entire set for $3 in my TpT store, so if you want some fun bookmarks stop my store and pick them up.

5 Books I Read Aloud in 2020

Image
One of my favorite parts about working in a school library is choosing books to read aloud to the younger years. I want to share 5 books I read this semester to kindergarten and grade one. The first book I read this year was If You Ever Want to Bring a Circus to the Library DON'T. It's about a girl who decides since the poster in the library says you can do anything in the Library she decides to bring a circus. I read this book at the beginning of the year because I thought it would be a great way to start a discussion about proper behavior in the Library. It set off a fun tone but also reminded students about how to respect the Library. Another great book I read in the first half of the school year was One Day. The End.  It's about a little girl that is sharing small moments from her life. The problem is she only has the first line and the last line of the story but if you look at the pictures she leaves out some of the best parts. This is a great way to start a writing u...

Things I Have Learned as a School Librarian

Image
My new job is fantastic I love all the books and figuring out how to organize the library. In my short time I have been a school librarian I have learned a few things. I would like to share my list with you. Captain Underpants and Diary of a Wimpy Kid are so popular that I always have a copy needing repair. Hardcover picture books, despite being small, hurt like hell when they fall on your foot. There are always books that need to be checked in. ( I should have thighs of steel by the end of the year from all the squating) Kids no matter how many times you tell them otherwise will always put books back on the shelf instead of in the book drop. The existence, and popularity of Mo Willems, Pete the Cat, and Peter H. Reynolds. We have too many books and not enough shelves. So many books I want to read, but not enough time. The Pinkalicious series is never on the shelf. The books I loved as a child are no longer popular. (Baby Sitters Club, Boxcar Children, Nancy Drew) We hav...
