2019 Reading Reflections and 2020 Plans

Image
Last year I found out about Popsugar Challenge and the Around the Year in 52 Books(ATY) on GoodReads. I started my Challenge on December 2018 with plans to end by December 2019. I actually finished both challenges before that so I'm all good. But one thing that annoyed me about starting the challenges early is the my dedicated shelves say that I didn't complete the challenge. It really is bothering me so for 2020 I am not starting till January 1st despite winter break starting on December 20th. Also Half way through last year I learnt about tracking the challenges on spreadsheets which was awesome because you can see how many books you have completed and what percentage you've completed. For the ATY one of the mods ( Emily Bourque ) created a community spreadsheet so that everyone could fill it in with the books they've read and they can also see what others have read for the same prompt. I really liked how she had set it up so I made a very basic one

Bookemon Badgathon TBR

So I am super excited about participating in the   Bookemon Badgathon by Megan at Tome Infinity . I want to earn all of the badges they are so amazing. Also Megan was kind enough to let me use the badges for a competition next year in the library so I will hopefully write a post about the end results next year when we hold it. But right now I want to talk about my TBR for the Badgathon. FYI I am on team Mystic because I choose that team so long ago when Pokemon Go came out.  Battle Book: Illuminae I will probably only read this battle book because it’s the only one I have access to. Also I have been meaning to read the series so yay! Creative Badge: I am Drums I was putting this away in the Library and thought this would be a good book to read for the creative badge Memory Badge: Marsh Field Dreams I pick this book because I am a fan of Ralph Fletcher's writing books so I thought I'd pick this up. Exemplary badge: Around the World in

Who am I? Myers-Briggs Personality Test

Image
So I went to 16personalities.com and took the Myers-Briggs test. I got INFJ-T: Advocate. Reading over the results at first I was all "no this isn't me." For instance: "they have very strong opinions and will fight tirelessly for an idea they believe in," I don't think so. Sure I have strong opinions but I'm not a fighter. I would rather keep my opinions to myself and not share them with others. Also, I am not creative, I don't think I am insightful and I am definitely not altruistic.      But then as I read further there were more parts that made more sense. Like "It makes sense that their friends and colleagues will come to think of them as quiet Extroverted types, but they would all do well to remember that Advocates need time alone to decompress and recharge, and to not become too alarmed when they suddenly withdraw." We were   having a discussion at work and one of my colleges thought I was an extrovert. Which if they

April TBR

April T o B e R ead  I thought I'd share my April TBR with everyone. While I have a few books in my picture knowing myself I will probably read a lot more. All the books currently on my April TBR are from the school library where I work. So they all have the library tags and color coding we use at the library. What I am going to do in this post is show a picture of each individual book and why I choose it for my TBR. So with out further ado here is my list. Cinder by Marissa Meyer I choose this book for two reasons: One almost everyone I follow on booktube love the Lunar Chronicles. So, I had to put it on my list. Two, Popsugar Challenge #15 Retelling of a Classic.  Jackaby by William Ritter My mom read this book earlier in the year and she absolutely loved it. So I put it on my TBR and am going to read it this month. I also might get to the rest of the series this month as well. Princess Bride by William Goldman  I loved the movie growing up, it i

My Reading Life

Image
This year I have been working on reading more books. I feel that as a Librarian I need to be more of a reader. When I was a teenager I used to be a big reader then I went to college and was forced to read books that I didn't enjoy so it kind of turned me off of reading. Also fan fiction kinda became my go to reading therefore my book reading has been severely neglected. Now, that I'm a librarian I feel that I need to be better acquainted with a lot of books so that I can help recommend books to my students. When I walked into the school library I saw all these popular books that I didn't know a thing about and all the books I loved as a kid were no longer popular. So, I felt like I was kinda drifting. Which brings me to this years goal of being a more prolific reader. To motivate me I joined the Popsugar Reading Challenge and the Good Reads Around the Year in 52 books challenge. My original goal was to limit myself to only books found in my library but I ended up dev
